How Everyday Joe's Barber & Style Shop came to be

It all began in a little town called Brownsburg, IN.  The original owners/investors were involved in the construction and stuck around the first year or so until a new owner took over and decided to rent the office space next to the barbershop and open a hair salon.  He cut a hole in the wall and replaced it with a couple french doors between the two shops so people could walk back and forth.  Eventually one of the gals from the salon side decided she'd like to own the salon herself and soon the hole was closed back up again and we were back to being a barbershop.  I,  Gretchen Shortall  came along in April of '03 and all together we had 5 barbers and one cosmetologist, me.  Between '03 until Sept '07 when I bought the shop, all the original 5 barbers had all disappeared and were replaced with the same people I still work with today minus a few barbers along the way.  I kept the name and I'm glad I did for advertising purposes.
Dan, the owner at the time I bought it wasn't a barber and when I asked him one day if he'd be interested in selling the shop to me, he was more than eager.  So, after a couple meetings and financial planning on my part we finally agreed on a number and that started my very first business loan thru State Bank of Lizton.  I was in the club of newness.  New to the club of business ownership and SBA business loans & Women Business SBA Loans.  And of coarse, like always after every time I do something that involves money I always ask myself; "why did I do that"?   I get like that after buying vehicles too.
I had to set-up my S-Corp thru the IRS and that intern gave me my TIN or EIN for Silverthorn & Associates, Inc. dba Everyday Joe's Barber & Style Shop was re-born.  I went and found some of the coolest Koken President and Premier barber chairs with the money I received by the selling the shops original chairs.  Changed the decor around alittle bit to fit the direction of the town  which then started  housing alot of race teams such as the  NHRA, USAC and IndyCar.   We've got vintage NHRA Funny Car pictures and posters, Top Fuel Teams cars and photos. Racecar drivers and Crew Chief signatures,  Indy 500 photos and replica scaled down toy cars from the 1950's.  I kept the old 73" tv  that still works great where Barney Fife or Lucy is always on.  So, check us out on facebook under Everyday Joes.    @EverydayJoe1 website everydayjoes@aol.com   Also, check out my collection of vintage barber chairs photos on photobucket.com under EverydayJoe.  And one more thing.....We cut your hair so YOU don't have too!
